How well does solar energy heat a pool?

A properly designed solar pool system can achieve the same results as other fuels. Solar energy is just another fuel with which to heat your pool. On days when you can relax comfortably in a bathing suit at poolside, but the water is too cold for swimming, solar energy can heat your pool to a temperature comfortable for swimming.

When should I teach my child to swim?

Most swim lessons start at 4 years old, but children can be exposed to water much earlier than that in a fun and safe environment. Even babies can enjoy a swimming pool when properly supervised. Most children younger than four don’t have the attention span to learn the different techniques used for swimming.

How long after eating can I get back into the water?

Thirty minutes used to be the guideline, but there is really no rule of thumb. Eating and then performing any strenuous activity such as swimming can result in cramps or vomiting, which could make it difficult to swim, or make the water dirty. Wait until your food has digested, and drink lots of water to avoid dehydration.

What should swimmers do when lightning strikes nearby?

It is recommended that both indoor and outdoor pools evacuate. Swimmers should follow their pools policy for exiting the water before an impending storm. Lifeguards and pool employees should direct the evacuation.
It is recommended that swimming pools be cleared at the first sound of thunder or first sight of lightning and 30 minutes should lapse after the lightning and thunder stop before swimmers get back into the water.
